According to the Chairman of West Papua People's Human Rights Protection, Jeffery Bomae, there was a dispute on the area that the compound is located, as a man from Kerema has taken them to court claiming title of the land.
Bomae says proper process has not been followed to have his people evicted as the case is still at the National Court.
"Our court case with the Kerema man over the land that we are settling on was heard at the District Court which during the time of hearing, on three (3) occasions he was absent, so the case was pushed forward to the National Court for hearing and it is still in court," said Mr Bomae.
"We the People of West Papua are recognized by the PNG Government and the area that our compound is located in Hohola belongs to the PNG National Housing Corporation, but this person that is trying to have us evicted is saying that he has title over the area," Mr Bomai said.
He said that the leaders and representatives of West Papuans at the Hohola Compound are now at the NHC Office to get a letter from them to give to the police who are still at the Compound to disperse as the matter is still in court and that proper processes were not followed. PNGFM
