Jakarta, SP - Indonesian police have identified three members of the West Papua National Committee (KNPB) as suspects suspected of carrying out subversive activities. Three suspected cases have now been submitted to the Papua Regional Police (Polda) Headquarters Criminal Investigation Department.

Earlier, Mimica police, with the help of the National Army, conducted a search at the National Committee Headquarters in Timbica, Papua, on December 31. On Saturday (January 5), Mimika Regional Police in Papua examined eight activists from the West Papua National Committee, who were allegedly suspected of undermining the crime.

Veronica Koman, a defense lawyer at the West Papua National Committee, questioned the validity of the inspection process because it did not comply with the provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code. Veronica said that the shortest time for the review was carried out three days earlier.

Veronica also questioned the alleged case of subversive activities investigated by Mimica local police to end the occupation of the headquarters of the Papuan National Council Mimi Kasai on December 31, 2018.

According to Veronica, the activities held at the West Papua National Committee Secretariat at the end of last year were only religious activities and traditional activities, without subversive activities. Veronica truly believed that the local Mimica police forced the dissolution of the incident at the time, thus violating the right to worship the community.
